Welcome To Sea Glass In The Sand

Enjoy inspirational stories that will warm your heart and soothe your soul.

Whatever your challenge in life today, there is hope for a brighter future, a lighter load, a valuable insight, or a good result that comes from a bad happening.

You can't always control what happens to you in life.

Life is often not fair.  And it's definitely not always easy.

But you do control how you respond to life's challenges.

To help you on your journey, I have shared with you inspirational stories of others who have gone through similar challenges.  They have made it through  the tunnel of struggle and despair, and have come out the other side transformed for the better, not crushed by the burden.

Come with me as I take you into the day to day lives of special people who can inspire you to get up when you fall down, continue on when you want to quit, and rise to the challenge instead of fall into despair.

Just like sea glass, they have gone from broken to beautiful.  And so can you.

The meaning Behind
Sea Glass In The Sand

From Broken To Beautiful

When a bottle is broken beyond repair, useless and unwanted, its shards of glass often make their way down the waterways to the ocean. There, they are tossed and tumbled by the surf and currents, scoured by friction as they bounce off stones and pieces of coral, and etched by a million passing grains of sand that rub against them on their journey of transformation.

With time, the sharp edges are polished smooth, and the glass is burnished with a million tiny scratches that create a softly glowing patina. During the dark of night, with the ebb and flow of the tide, the tiny pieces of polished glass are carried onto the shore, where the receding tide leaves them nestled among the powder white sand.

There they wait for the rising sun to light them with a glow that showcases their true colors.

And a lone person walking on the beach at dawn will see the glowing color and stop and pick up the now beautiful piece of sea glass, amazed by its beauty and grace, taking it home to cherish for its beauty today.

It doesn’t matter what the glass started out as, only what it is today. And it is appreciated for its beauty and color and texture in the here and now.

Our lives are like that.

At one time or another, we’ve all been broken, discarded, no longer valued or appreciated. But that was then, and this is now.

We are the result of all the trials and tribulations of our lives, the scratches and bumps and bruises, battered by our painful experiences, but somehow at the end, made new by them. Not the same. Perhaps not better or prettier or shinier. Not as new and untouched. But different…transformed by the sands of life into the amazing new person that we are today.

We can never go back to where we started. We can’t put the broken pieces back together again in the same shape. We can’t regain that past life. But we can embrace a beautiful joy-filled life that awaits each of us, here and now today, scored by the sands of life into a beautiful new present.

These are the stores of 5 amazing women who have survived the hurts and disappointments of life, the brokenness of their past, the years of being ground down by rejection and pain in their journey of transformation. But at the end, each has emerged more whole, more beautiful, more fulfilled than they ever imagined.

Read their stories. Go on their sometimes painful journey with them. And learn for yourself that a wonderful new future awaits each and every one of us when we are transformed by the friction of our journey from there to here…wherever that may take us.

What Readers Are Saying:
"..What I Needed...When I Needed It!"
I got married right after I graduated from high school, and became pregnant that same summer, dashing my hopes of getting an education to become a nurse - my life's goal.  I lived at home with my parents when my husband left, and they helped raise my baby while I went to school.  I am pleased to say that I am getting my LVN degree next month.  It was hard, taking care of a baby without a husband, going to school, studying, and working on weekend as a waitress to pay the bills. But I took inspiration from your Single Moms book, where I realized that I was not alone, and it gave me the encouragement to continue.  And now I will be a nurse - and a mom. And my parents are so proud of me!

"...You've Seen Inside My Heart to Know My Pain"
My son Dominic was born 6 weeks premature, and has had developmental challenges since we brought him home from the NICU. I was ashamed of my feelings of frustration and anger - until I learned how other moms felt the same way.  I realized I was okay, and not a bad mom - just a human one. It gave me the confidence and strength to continue on, knowing I was not alone in the challenges of being a mom of a beautiful special needs child.

"...I Was Able To Tell My Daughter How Much I Loved Her Through The Book!"
My daughter Barbara became pregnant at 16 - and it was devastating to the whole family.  She dropped out of school, lived at home, and we raised baby Natalie in a blended home.  Barbara always felt guilty about the burden on the family, even though I told her how much we all cherished raising Natalie.  I gave her the Teen Age Moms book, which helped her better understand her struggle - and the love we have for both of them.  It brought us closer than ever before.  Thank you.
